Our Approach to Skin Cancer Surgery
Treating skin cancer requires a delicate balance: ensuring all cancerous cells are completely removed while preserving as much healthy tissue and aesthetic appearance as possible.
1. Rapid Assessment & Biopsy: If you have a suspicious lesion, we prioritize your appointment. During your consultation, our surgeons will examine the area. If skin cancer is suspected, we will perform a biopsy to send to a pathology lab for definitive diagnosis.
2. Surgical Excision with Clear Margins: Under local anesthesia, the surgeon removes the tumor along with a "safety margin" of healthy-looking skin. The excised tissue is sent to pathology to confirm the margins are clear.
3. Expert Plastic Surgery Reconstruction: Because our team consists of board-certified plastic surgeons, we are uniquely qualified to reconstruct the surgical site immediately after the cancer is removed. Whether the cancer was on your cheek, nose, or back, we use advanced closure techniques, skin flaps, or grafts to minimize scarring and restore your natural appearance.
